about Vision Aids

OUR STORY

Iyasu Ihdego is the founder and owner of Vision Aids Canada, a low‑vision and accessibility store located at 795 Eglinton Ave. E in Toronto. With over 20 years of experience working closely with the blind and low‑vision community, Iyasu understands the practical challenges people with sight loss face in their daily lives. Since opening the store in 2012, he has been dedicated to helping clients live more independently by connecting them with practical vision aids and assistive technologies that genuinely fit their needs. Iyasu was inspired to start Vision Aids after being deeply moved by a blind friend’s determination to manage everyday tasks with limited support, revealing how many barriers still exist and how much difference the right tools and understanding can make. He brings patience, empathy, and hands‑on product knowledge to every interaction, making Vision Aids a welcoming place for people with vision loss, their families, and the professionals who support them.
